We are Dave van der Bend and Evelien van den Noort and run as resp. chef and hostess Weekends on the edge of the center of Zwolle.
Many Zwolle locals know this place from Café de Paris, in the 80s and 90s the dining café of Zwolle. During the 1990s, the name was changed to Weekends by new owners and the emphasis has been on food ever since. At that time, the foundation was already laid on the still so well-known dishes such as our satay and fried mushrooms. Dave came as a chef in 1994 and took over Weekends in 1996 together with his sister Margriet until 2006.
In those ten years they have put Weekends on the map and Weekends is now a household name in Zwolle. Margriet stopped being a hostess after ten years, she wanted to convert her love for horses, which she had as a hobby, into work. Since then she has enjoyed working at a Manage in Zwolle. I, Evelien, joined in 2006 and took over Margriet’s position.
Dave and I are not only business partners but also private and we think this combination is the best solution, especially in the hospitality industry. We complement each other and together form a good team. Of course we don’t do this alone, we have a team of part-timers around us. Together we are a “Happy Weekends Family”! And that is also what we stand for. Family is basis, you can always get there no matter who you are or how you are. We are always ready and always serve delicious dishes with excellent quality and quantity, of course at the right price without fuss!
